Eliška Jindrová - Textile For Tea SK

I am a Prague girl currently living and working in Slovakia, in a small village Čereňany near Partizánske. I’m one of the faces of Oriolus craft studio, which was established quite recently and combines the love for honest craft and tea. For a long time I was looking for my own way in creating, until I finally came to the conclusion that there is true beauty in the simplicity of the material, the purity of the shape - form and the quality of the craftsmanship. My love for blueprint (indigo dyed fabric) and tea ware fired in a wood-fired kiln won out.

In the studio I pay great attention to detail and quality of materials. The wooden buttons are handmade and the obvious choice was Czech and Slovak blueprint, not only because of the beautiful designs, but also because of the high level of workmanship and craftsmanship. I use blueprint to sew travel bags and komebukuro pouches, which provide protection for the tea pottery and encourage tea making outside the house. I then use the indigo dyed fabrics to create tea tablecloths or chabu, which complement any tea gathering and set the aesthetic framework for it.
