Wen Shan Bao Zhong Oolong

Legendary tea which can be categorized between green and oolong teas comes from Wen Shan mountains nearby the capital Taipei. Tea comes from the Chin Xin cultivar grown in 300 – 400 m altitude, picked in the spring of 2023. Moderate oxidation around 10 – 15 %. Grown and processed by Mr. Ong. The sweet, intoxicating flowery scent of the infused leaves lasts for many brews. We smell spring garden in blossom as well as heavier, deeper rose and orchid tones mingling together with fruity tastes, among which dominate peach, mango and honey melon. All this is wrapped in creamy, silky infusion of bright green-blue colour.

How to prepare Wen Shan Bao Zhong

These tea leaves are suitable for Asian-style preparation, which includes multiple infusions: you steep 5 grams of tea leaves per 150 ml of water that has boiled and cooled to 85–90 °C for 30 seconds and in the following three infusions, you steep the leaves for 40, 60, and 90 seconds, respectively. Feel free to experiment with steeping time, water temperature, and the amount of tea leaves. You can also read our articles on tea preparation and water quality.
