A beautiful spring tea from the Arya Tara garden
located in the renowned Ilam growing region of eastern Nepal. The garden is planted with mostly tea trees of the prized AV-2 cultivar, which gives the local teas a unique character. The lightly rolled and oxidised, unbroken leaves consist of hairy top buds with one or two young leaves. A golden infusion of smooth, creamy, sweetly fruity flavour with notes of ripe peach, mandarine, paste honey and pine resin.
How to prepare Nepal Arya Tara
Use 5 grams of tea leaves for 0.5 litre of boiling water cooled to 85-90 °C, steep for 2–3 minutes. Feel free to experiment with steeping time, water temperature, and the amount of tea leaves. You can also read our articles on tea preparation and water quality.
Arya Tara Tea Estate
Is a small tea plantation located in the Illam district of eastern Nepal near the Indian border at an altitude of 1,700 to 2,000 meters. The garden was established in 1975 and most of its production went to the tea factories in the nearby town of Darjeeling. In 2010, a small tea processing factory was built there. Most of the garden is planted with the AV2 variety, sought after for its unmistakable sweet floral aroma with hints of ripe tangerines.
