Beech wood is hard, homogeneous and flexible, but not very weatherproof. It should be used indoors. Its cross-section is characterised by shiny “mirrors”. I do not use it very often for carving. Its homogeneousness makes it feel not enough “woody” − it doesn’t lead me during work. At the same time, a carver can imprint just about anything in it.
