Wood-fired porcelain in anagama kiln at a temperature of around 1300°C.
ø 12 cm x height 10 cm

How the "glaze" is created in the anagama kiln

All that is on the outside is not glaze, but an ash accumulation that is formed during firing. The wood burns, the ash is produced. It falls on the vessels and melts. Many other factors play a role. In addition, vapours from the wood are trapped on the clay, which also form colour accents. A lot of ash from a lot of burnt wood has to be produced to produce a visible result. That is why the firings take days.
