Black Tea - Summer Season

In late May and early June, the weather starts to warm up and the hot summer sun comes to the tea gardens. It encourages the tea bushes to grow rapidly and changes the chemical processes in the leaves. The tea leaves grow faster and start to produce compounds to protect them from insects, sunlight or too much heat. This leads to stronger and more robust flavours. The summer harvest is known as the 'Second Flush'.
