Roasted green tea from Japan
Lightly roasted green tea - Kukicha. It has a bright, slightly roasted taste and aroma. Suitable for drinking after meals.
The big characteristic of Houjicha is that it contains less caffeine. Green tea contains health beneficial substances like tannin, caffeine, vitamins (A, B2, C, E, K...). By roasting, caffeine evaporates but tannins, the substances known to have anti-cancer effect, are left in Houjicha. Thus we say you can have more gulps of Houjicha than normal green tea, and also kids and older people can drink it.
Preparation: Allow 2 teaspoons of tea for 0,5 l of boiled water, cooled down to 85°C, steep for 1 - 3 minutes.
