Nepal Jun Chiyabari „Golden Hand Rolled Himalayan Tips“ Autumnal 2011
Description
Autumnal Flush from the Nepalese Jun Chiyabari Tea Estate
Select tea from a young Nepalese garden – Jun Chiyabari – is designated GHRHT, which means Golden Hand Rolled Himalayan Tips, and it is one of the highlights of a wide range of teas produced in a relatively small quantity in this garden. The tea is difficult to classify as regards fermentation/oxidation, thus we included it both among green teas and oolongs. Its character may remind of dark Taiwanese oolongs like "Oriental Beauty" and its taste has the scarce muscatel aroma.
Dry leaf is hand-processed, regularly rolled with about a 50% share of silvery tips, relatively richly oxidized. One may recognize aroma of chocolate, dark fruits and orchid flowers.
The liquor is of vivid golden-brown colour, very balanced and smooth taste, without any bitterness. Aftertaste is notable for clear tones of precious woods and resins, deep to almost heavy aroma of orchid flowers and clearly noticeable muscatel.
Preparation: 15 g of tea per 1l of boiled water, cooled down to about 85 - 90°C, steep for 2 minutes. The second brew can be prepared in the same way, steep for 3 minutes.
Or: for a smaller teapot of 200 - 250 ml, use 10 g of tea and 80°C water, pour after 1 minute. Gradually increasing water temperature, the tea can be infused up to 5 times.
